Carlos Góngora was unable to hide his delight on realizing that the twelve dollars destined to rent a wheelchair when he needed to take his daughter to medical appointments will now be used to buy medicine. “My little six–year old was born with a hydrocephalous and myelomeningocele condition as well as a sprained hip and club foot. With this chair it is easier to attend consultations with the different specialists who attend to her”, he pointed out.

Carlos, together with 24 other persons, were part of those who benefitted from a wheelchair and walking cane delivery for the blind from la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil performed in coordination with the Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints.

Máximo Chilan, also blind, was another one of the beneficiaries having received a cane to guide his movements. “I lost my eyesight 20 years ago from a blow received while doing sports whereby my retinas became undone in a week. Since then this implement is for daily usage to me and I needed to change it three years ago. However due to money problems I hadn´t been able to do it”, he manifested.

Fifteen wheelchair and ten walking canes were delivered on a free-of-charge basis for the blind. Delivery was performed in the Junta de Beneficencia Logistics and Distribution warehouse in the presence of family members, beneficiaries and authorities from the Jesus Christ Church of latter Day Saints.
