Junta de Beneficencia delivered 30 chairs to disabled persons

A total of 30 persons from different parts of the Guayas Province were benefitted with a new wheelchair donation performed by la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil in coordination with the Free Wheelchair Foundation from Northamerica.

One of those benefitted was 72 year-old Teodora Matilde Reyes who fractured her femur two years ago after a fall and who arrived from the Trinitaria Island in the company of her son to take away the wheelchair she requested. “I feel immense joy because I know I will be able to move around and will no longer be confined to bed”, she expressed.

Engineer Eduardo Romero, foreign Relations Deputy Inspector, and Donations Manager pointed out the very valuable contributions performed by institutions and which make it possible to deliver free-of-charge wheelchairs. “During this year and the previous one we have reached many provinces in the country; we´ve been in Imbabura, Chimborazo, Tungurahua, Santa Elena, Puyo, Riobamba and other parts of the country. Shortly we will be delivering 60 chairs to the Loja Diocese and later to the Ambato Diocese”, he manifested.

Delivery was carried out in the Institution´s Donations Warehouse in the presence of beneficiaries and their families as well as Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil authorities.
