Free WheelchairVirginia spent the time lying down in bed without being able to move. Little by little, with the help of Karina Velez, her daughter, and therapy she has been able to sit and talk.

She was one of the 23 beneficiaries of the wheelchair donation that La Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil delivered to persons of scarce economic means in collaboration with Free Wheelchair Mission, a North American Organization.

Previous to the donation, beneficiaries were evaluated by physiocrats from the integral rehabilitation Center at the Luis Vernaza Hospital who determined the chair size and characteristics to be delivered according to the needs of the soliciting party.

“My mother needed a wheelchair urgently because for us it was too difficult to buy one to take her to medical appointments and therapy sessions. We are grateful to la Junta de Beneficencia for the help received by us who need it the most”, commented Karina.
“The help extended is very helpful for I must take her to medical appointments since she is diabetic as well as to therapies. Up till now it was difficult to find a wheelchair to do so”, concluded Karina.
