Disabled people were grateful for wheelchair donation

Beneficiaries in wheelchairsA total of twelve people of scarce economic means and stricken with motor disability benefitted from the wheelchair donation delivered by La Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil in conjunction with the Church of Jesus Crist of Latter Day Saints.

Leonidas Caraguay was one of the beneficiaries. He is 65 years-old and has been suffering from diabetes for the last 30 years. In time, this illness provoked the loss of one leg, however, he is able to sustain his family by selling candy at the local market. “I had a wheelchair which broke down in time. I would be taken to work to sit on a stool, now I can move around on my own,” he pointed out excitedly while maneuvering his chair.

Isaac Ochoa Sanchez also benefitted from a wheelchair. He was born with a hydrocephalus and myelomeningocele condition, and according to his mother he would be carried to therapy sessions when he was small with no trouble at all. “However, now this is complicated because my back hurts from carrying him everywhere”, se commented.

Those benefitted were evaluated previously to guarantee a wheelchair reception according to their needs. Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil officials were present during delivery which occurred at the Logistics and Distribution Warehouse.
