La Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil (JBG) in coordination with the Jesus Christ Church of latter day Saints delivered 39 mobility implements to persons with special capabilities between children, adults and elderly people residents of the Santa Rosa Canton in the El Oro Province.
The donation which was channeled through the Childhood and Family Integrating Volunteers Association (AVINFA) consisted of thirty-four wheelchairs, two walkers and three mechanical propulsion PET cars.
Maria del Rosario Pesantes, Barrio del Centenario inhabitant, received a wheelchair and pointed out it will be of great service because she has spinal column problems. “I have two spinal column operations. There months ago was the last one and the one prior to that was six months before. I had no mobilization means and just remained prone. Now I can go out for a stroll with my dear Santa Rosa”, she said.
Margarita Murillo, AVINFA president explained that managerial measures to benefit those who really need it lasted two months divided in three phases. First a visit by AVINFA volunteers to select beneficiaries, then la Junta de Beneficencia technical personnel who measured and performed evaluations to, later on, deliver a chair according to the size required by the beneficiary.
Bachelor Hector Ullauri, representing la Junta de Beneficencia, pointed out that the purpose of performing these deliveries on a national scale is to change the quality of life of disabled persons in a positive manner.
