Nine years ago a tumor extraction in the cervical region left Diana Bricio with no movement in her legs. Ever since then a wheelchair has been instrumental for daily mobility from the precinct where she lives to the San Juan Parrish in the Pueblo Viejo canton in the Los Rios Province.
Diana was part of those 51 persons benefitted with mobility implements delivery brought about by la Junta de Beneficiencia de Guayaquil in collaboration with Free Wheelchair Mission and Mobility Worldwide, Both Northamerican Organizations.
“Before it would take me 30 minutes in a wheelchair from the precinct to the parrish where I sell products through catalogues but I’m sure that with this PET I will arrive in less time”, Diana pointed out.
Delivery consisted of 47 semi-postural wheelchairs from and the 4 mechanically driven cars. Monsignor Skiper Yanez, Babahoyo Diocese Bishop, pointed out that thanks to this work in coordination with La Junta de Beneficiencia de Guayaquil people from Babahoyo, Ventanas, Quevedo, Palenque, Vinces, Baba and other areas of los Rios Province have benefitted.
“It is really social work which helps those people most in need, making them feel they are not alone but rather supported, with improved mobilization and consequently better self-esteem”, pointed out Monsignor Yánez.
