With the support of la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil, the Rostros Felices Foundation, headed by Dr. Jorge Palacios, continued with free – of - charge plastic surgery days in the city of Portoviejo, Manabí.
Those who benefitted from operations were 28 children stricken with congenital or acquired malformations such as a harelip, sunken palate, disfigured by trauma and the burnt who were selected by a group of specialists from the Rostros Felices Foundation.
Surgeries were performed at the Verdi Cevallos Hospital in Portoviejo from June 30th to the third of July. The team was conformed by plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, therapists, nurses and supportive personnel in the area of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Hospital Luis Vernaza who perform this social work voluntarily in several sectors of Ecuador.
“Local and foreign surgeons arrived; and this team also counted on the help extended by la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil”, concluded Raul Galarza, President of the Portoviejo Rotary Club. La Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil is an active participant towards improving the patient´s quality of life as well as that of the family through this solidary program.
