A total of 41 persons among them children and elderly adults with special aptitudes from different cantons in the Guayas Province received different implements of mobility from la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil.
Pedro Oquendo, from the El Triunfo Canton received the mechanically propelled car he requested to mobilize in an autonomous way. An accident several years ago left consequences in his mobility. “I have an old wheelchair but with this little car I can go out for distraction and even set up a business”, he pointed out.
Carmen Reyes, another beneficiary, accompanied her 12-year-old daughter with infantile cerebral paralysis to receive a wheelchair in accordance with her condition. “I thank those who made this donation possible”, she said.
During the event la Junta de Beneficencia further delivered three wheelchairs and five pairs of crutches to Blanca Lopez, Director of the Haste Center and coordinator of the Social Reinsertion Unit, implements which will be distributed in the male prision # 1, the Provisional Detention Center and Haste Center.
“We are filled with joy that these chairs help those deprived of their freedom because in the country’s jails we don´t have any stretchers, wheelchairs or crutches but we do have incarcerated persons with catastrophic illnesses”, said Lopez after thanking la Junta for the donation received.
This activity is part of the technical aid delivery program that the entity puts out on a national level thanks to the International cooperation of such organisms as the Jesus Christ Church of latter Day Saints, Free Wheelchair Mission and mobility Worldwide.
