Around 34 persons benefitted from a donation consisting of 25, non-folding wheelchairs and 9 PETCARS delivered by la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil in conjunction with ONG´S Free Wheelchair Mission and PETS international.
One of the beneficiaries was Mary Murillo, 63 years-old, coming from the Bucay Canton and suffering from poliomyelitis from childhood. She arrived in the company of GAD personnel to receive the little pet car she had requested.
On the other hand España Pita received a wheelchair. She is 65 years-old and has been suffering from a cerebral stroke for the last 5 years which curtailed mobility of half her body.
Before delivery, doctors Laura Flor, Raul Miranda and Gustavo Bocca all physiatrists from la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil Hospitals evaluated the degree of mobility in each beneficiary and proceeded to deliver that vehicle best suited to his physical condition.
“ I am very happy because I deliver food and this little vehicle will be very useful to transport my products for which I am grateful to la Junta de Beneficincia de Guayaquil and to those who made this donation possible”, said Mary.
“We would always borrow a wheelchair and on certain occasions I would carry it to medical appointments”, said Roxi Traves Pita, the beneficiary´s daughter.
