Carlos Baque, 67 years old, and Pedro Martinez, 91 years old were very happy since they can now move around thanks to the wheelchairs they received from the Nothamerican Free Wheelchair Mission Organization in conjunction with la Junta de Beneficiencia de Guayaquil.
Pedro's daughter España Martinez mentioned his problems with Alzheimer, eyesight and prostate which limit his mobility “My father lived in Salitre and I brought him to Guayaquil due to his health problems. This chair will be very useful, specially to take him to the health center for medical appointments” she said.
Meanwhile Carlos Baque has had problems with his legs and diabetes for 30 years. Carlos commented that as a result of this illness he lost his eyesight 10 years ago.” I already needed a wheelchair but was unable to buy it, therefore I thank those who made this delivery possible,” he points out.
In total fifteen disabled persons were previously evaluated by physiatrists from la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil to guarantee that the wheelchairs would adapt 100 % to their condition.
