An accident eight years ago deprived him of mobility in his legs. Since then José Luis Quishpe has spent most of his time on the sofa in his living room. He relied on his father or brother to move from one side to another.
Today Luis Quishpe next to other beneficiaries smiles again thanks to the wheelchair delivery la Junta de Beneficiencia arranged in coordination with free Wheelchair Mission a Northamerican Organization. “I`m happy because I will be a little more independent”, commented Quishpe.
Luis Sierra, 62 years old, was another beneficiary who, as a victim of diabetes, lost his leg four months ago. Ever since then, together with his wife, they have knocked on doors of several institutions to get a wheelchair“. Now I am very happy because La Junta has delivered a wheelchair to my husband”, Vaca points out.
In order that the wheelchairs adapt in the best of ways to each beneficiary`s physical condition, a team of physiatrists from la Junta de Beneficiencia evaluated each application.
Delivery took place in the National Lottery premises with medical physiatrists, family members, beneficiaries and authorities from la Junta de Beneficencia in attendance.
