This time thirty-seven persons between children, adults and elderly adults who suffer from congenital or acquired pathologies in their motor ability, benefitted, according to their needs, with a donation of 30 wheelchairs, 4 PET cars and 3 walkers.
Nataly, who is five, and born with microcephalus was one of those benefitted. Her mother Mercy Villamar came out thankful with the wheelchair and diapers donated by la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil. “It is the first time my baby girl has a wheelchair. I´ve always carried her in my arms but she now weighs and my back hurts a lot since I have to carry her to the hospital for therapies”, commented the young mother who lives in the new Prosperina sector.
Laura Peña, who arrived from the city´s suburbs, also emerged with a wheelchair. She has diabetes and undergoes dialysis three times a week whereby she urgently needed a chair to help mobilize her to the hospital. “Before I had to rent a wheelchair, now I have my own and will take care of it because this chair will be my legs to hold me. I will live grateful ever after for the help we have received today” commented Laura.
Eng. Eduardo Romero, donations Inspector for la Junta de Beneficencia, pointed out that each delivery allows him to come across new stories which provide added impulse to the technical AID donations program which benefits directly those persons with reduced mobility across the country. “Throughout the year, La Junta de Beneficencia has donated 890 wheelchairs and we have more to donate. We are coordinating to visit Quito shortly to benefit more Ecuadorians”, he pointed out.
The donation was performed in coordination with International Organisms such as the Jesus Crist Church of Latter Day Saints, Free Wheelchair Mission and Mobility Worldwide which benefitted inhabitants of the Santa Elena, Los Rios and Manabí provinces as well as several cantons in the Guayas Province.
