JUNTA DE BENEFICENCIA DELIVERED IMPLEMENTS OF MOBILITY AT NOBOL

Thanks to the International Cooperation of organisms such as free Wheelchair Mission and Mobility Worldwide, la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil delivered, free of charge, 23 wheelchairs, 6 mechanically propelled PET cars and three walkers to a total of 32 persons who suffer different congenital or acquired pathologies which limit their motor ability and who reside in the Nobol Canton, of the Guayas Province.


One of those beneficiaries was Roy Cercado who arrived with Jenny Caicedo, his mother, from Daule. He has a third grade spastic condition as a result of a traffic accident three years ago while traveling in a tricycle. His mother pointed out that the mechanically propelled vehicle he received from la Junta de Beneficencia will help Roy recover some independence and move around on his own means. “It’s something he always wanted and I know it will increase his self-esteem”, she pointed out.

The delivery ceremony for the technical aids was performed in the audio-visual room of the Record House of the Narcisa de Jesus Sanctuary in Nobol

For the Santa Narcisa de Jesus Sanctuary Rector, Father Stanley Henriques, La Junta de Beneficencia does great work first on a local level, then nationally. “When one receives assistance such as this the only thing left to say is thanks” he pointed out.

In the course of 2019 la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil has improved the quality of life of 950 persons in the entire country through the free-of-charge delivery of different technical aids.

A new donation benefitted 37 persons with reduced mobility

This time thirty-seven persons between children, adults and elderly adults who suffer from congenital or acquired pathologies in their motor ability, benefitted, according to their needs, with a donation of 30 wheelchairs, 4 PET cars and 3 walkers.

Outstanding members, officials and doctors received recognition

In recognition of their outstanding passage through the Institution and the contribution they delivered from their different duties throughout the time they belonged to it, la Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil decided at the ordinary General Board meeting of May 30th of 2019 to impose the medal of merit “Eduardo Arosemena Merino” formally on the following gentlemen: Eng. Guillermo Arosemena, Mr. Francisco Márquez, Lawyer Raúl Gómez, Dr. Ignacio Granja and Dr. José Antonio Ortega.


The ceremony was performed yesterday the seventh of August during the extraordinary General Board Meeting at 12 h00. Dr. Galo Garcia, a member of the Institution exalted the virtues and qualities of those condecorated who, from different angles have served the community, contributing their professional experiences to the country in the social, scientific, economic and political spheres.

The decoration was imposed by Eng. by Eng. Luis Trujillo

Data regarding those condecorated:

Eng. Guillermo Arosemena, writer, professor, researcher and historian. he has stood out in a business career . He was a member of La Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil since July of 1999 until December of 2011 during which time he made valuable contributions to the Institution, among them, to the development of the Luis Vernaza Hospital where he performed as inspector. The recognition he received bears the name of his great-grandfather Eduardo Arosemena who was the first Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil Director.

Eng. Francisco Marquez was the son of Mr. Luis Vernaza Lazarte ex -Junta de Beneficencia Director. Even though he lives in the United State since 2002 he contributes to the work of La Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil by collective Hospital furniture donations as well as equipment and medicine from non-governmental social help, organizations from that country, particularly Americares Foundation and VID, donations which help improve the quality of life of those who receive it. The recognition was received by his brother Eduardo Marquez.

Lawyer Raul Gomez joined la junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil in 1976 as legal office auxiliary lawyer, in 1985 he was the alternate lawyer and in 1995 he was named the Main lawyer, a designation he executed until May of 2016. On request from the entity´s Director he continued as legal advisor until March of 2019. He always defended the entity’s autonomy to which he belonged for 37 years.

He has discharged important public and private posts, among them, he was bank superintendant, Congressman for the Guayas Province, President of the Port Authority Directory, professor of the Catholic University and Vice-President of the Chamber of Industries, among other relevant positions.

Dr. Ignacio Granja, a notable doctor from the Luis Vernaza Hospital was completely educated at this Hospital where he came in as student in 1962. In 1970 he joined as a resident physician and stayed in the hospital until March of 2019, during which time he discharged different managerial and sub-managerial positions in different wards of important areas such as surgery. Dr. Granja retired after 49 years of dedication to his patients and leaving the name of the Hospital at the top-

Dr. Jose Antonio Ortega joined the Luis Vernaza Hospital in 1982 as Associated Doctor to the surgery department. From 2001 to 2006 he performed as technical sub-director, a post he exercised until 2011

He belonged to the notable Luis Vernaza medical staff until March of 2019
